Blue Wool Spencer Completed!

Before the RSV Twelfth Night Dinner this past Saturday (blog post coming soon) Brian the Engineer and I stopped at Colonial Williamsburg for a quick photoshoot to show off my newly-completed Spencer and tam

Believe it or not, the plaid design being on the bias was entirely accidental.  When I was making the hat, I was working from the inside and could only see the blue flannel lining.  I wasn't thinking about the grain at all, and when I put the hat on I just made sure the seam of the hat band was at the back of my head.  I had no idea this put the crown of the hat on the bias until I looked at these pictures.  Serendipity!

Brian got some great detail shots for me:

My TARDIS-blue leather gloves were a Christmas present from Brian.  Aren't they lovely?

I got a kick out of the fact that my shoes matched the steps up to the Secretary's Office:

I got them from The Gap, and they are quite comfortable.

No one was home.
I love my new Spencer!  It is very warm and comfortable, and I feel so stylish!  It was also incredibly fun to make.  I anticipate many more in the future.  :)

  1. Chelsea, when I look at the beauty in these pictures I can only think you and Brian should have lots of children! They would be absolutely gorgeous!!!
Fantastic work and great photography. I think Brian should look into this now that he's "retired"! ;)

  2. Blue is your color. You now own exclusive rights to it. I love the Spencer! It's got just the right amount of trim, and all kinds of class. Extra points to Brian the Engineer for those gloves. They are badass.

  3. Fabulous pictures! The spencer is lovely, and despite all the aggravation it caused you, the tam worked out wonderfully in the end - the colour balance is perfect!
