Celebration VI

Celebration VI was a blast!  I got my Corset Gown done in time for the Costume Masquerade, which I'll blog about soon.  I also wore my Family Gown and my Light Blue Tattooine Gown, which have not changed since 2005, when I wore them for Celebration III.  More in-depth posts on each day of the convention are forthcoming, but for now here are just a few quick shots of me in my costumes:

I'm the one on the right in the slightly less-awesome Family Gown.

This one is supposed to look like I'm on Tattooine  :p

Black Corset Redo

So I decided at the very last minute to enter the costume contest at Celebration VI.  By "last minute," I mean last night, and entries needed to be postmarked by today.  :p  I'm entering with my Padmé Corset Gown, and in order to be comfortable in it I need to remake the corset.

The good news is, I still have black satin left over from the first time around, so it will still match the gloves.

It's very heavy and has a nice sheen to it, and I've actually had people mistake it for leather.  This makes me happy, as I believe the original corset was leather, and I want to at least look screen-accurate.  With that in mind, this time around I am not going to make it lace up in the back, as the original costume does not.  My plan is to have a front closure with either a busk or an invisible zipper, which will be hidden by the necklace strands.

Past Projects - Padmé Corset Gown

This costume, inspired by the fireside scene from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, was one of the most challenging, but rewarding costumes I have made.  As with all my earliest work, I took no in-progress pictures. It is a bit hot and uncomfortable (three words: tight satin corset) but this costume was certainly fun to wear!  I made it in 2005 for the Star Wars Celebration III convention.
