Two weeks ago (September 27) the Regency Society of Virginia took a little day trip to James Madison's home for a tour of the house and grounds.  I must say, we were a well-dressed bunch!

Such a pretty view!

We weren't allowed to take any pictures inside the house, but the outside was quite lovely! (Minus the scaffolding)

We were led in through the back entrance.

After touring the house, we went back to the visitor center for lunch!

It was a beautiful day for a walk in the woods.

Which is precisely what we did next!  Our tour guide told us all about the various trees we would see.

And we set off for our big woods walk.

Brian is in none of these pictures, by the way, because he took them all.  Can you tell?
At this point my camera's memory card was full, so the remaining pictures are from Brian's phone.
After the guided tour of the woods, Brian the Engineer and I took a little self-guided tour of the gardens, because who could resist this view?
I would so love to have a garden like this!

Lovely group of ladies and gentlemen as well as a lovely setting. Looks like a charming visit.
